A glassy sweeper egg, moments from hatching, is seen through a microscope at Roger Williams University’s Wet Lab in Bristol, Rhode Island, where parent offspring are bred for the New England Aquarium’s aquaculture program. The round bubble is an oil droplet, which is a nutritional source similar to an egg yolk.
