NEW YORK — In a sign that striking graduate students at New York University may be settling in for a long siege, they’ve sent their rat out for repairs. Labor groups use the giant inflatable rodent to shame employers they consider guilty of unfair labor practices. NYU earned such treatment, the strikers say, by refusing to negotiate a new contract with the United Auto Workers local that represents the students and by threatening them with the loss of their paid teaching jobs if they continue the strike they launched Nov. 9.
