Now science tells
of a water lake on Mars
seen through algorithmic lenses,
so we hear again the Sirens of
first life:
……………. we still hope
to scratch that itch
imagining its synthesis
……………. we still hope
to catch the whale
tormenting us since we turned
from Simply –Is to Unknowable
and built a babbling tower
of creation tales, all incredible,
that end in fire
or ice
